FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Local officials are asking everyone traveling on non-paved roads to slow down and use extreme caution. Non-paved roads have become hazardous with the wet and raining conditions we have experienced and continuing for the next couple of days. Please slow down, closely watch road conditions, don’t drive through flooded areas, and avoid non-paved roads whenever possible.
More moderate to heavy rain is expected to continue this evening and Wednesday.

Rodger William Lee

Nov. 5, 1928 – March 9, 2019

TOPEKA — Rodger William Lee, Topeka, died Saturday, March 9, 2019, at his home. He was 90.

He was born Nov. 5, 1928, at Richland, the son of John and Minnie Dodds Lee. He graduated from Topeka High School. In 1950, he was inducted into the U.S. Army. He served in Germany as Sargent in charge of regimental communications until his discharge in 1953.

Ethel M. Parker

April 15, 1941 – Jan. 4, 2019

PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. — Ethel M. Parker died Jan. 4, 2019, at Fawcett Memorial Hospital, Port Charlotte, Fla. She was 77.

She was born April 15, 1941, at Elizabeth City, Colo.

She married Phillip Larry Parker June 6, 1959. He preceded her in death.

Ruth Pearl Hickey

Jan. 18, 1929 – March 2, 2019

OSAGE CITY — Ruth Pearl Hickey died Saturday, March 2, 2019, at her home in Osage City. She was 90.

She was born Jan. 18, 1929, on the family farm near Olivet, the daughter of Arthur and Elva Stephens Jones. She grew up in the Olivet area and lived in Lyndon for many years before moving to Osage City in 1993.

She worked for Blue Cross/Blue Shield Insurance, Topeka, and was a homemaker for most of her life.

She married Merle Hickey Sept. 10, 1945, at Seattle, Wash. He preceded her in death on Sept. 10, 1991.
